Britney Spears Moves To Make Jodi Montgomery Her Permanent Conservator

Britney Spears has filed a request to make Jodi Montgomery her permanent conservator.

New court documents acquired by TMZ reveal the “Toxic” superstar now wants Montgomery, who has been serving as Britney’s temporary conservator amid her ongoing battle with father Jamie Spears, to assume the position full-time.

Montgomery has been taking on conservatorship duties since September 2019, the date Jamie temporarily stepped down due to health troubles.

Britney notes Jamie’s relinquishment of power in the documents, according to TMZ, whose sources say Britney “wants to keep Jodi in the position going forward," and reportedly, “Jamie has no objections to the change, and Britney really likes Jodi in that role. [Jamie’s] fine with it.”

If appointed as conservator of Britney’s person, Montgomery would essentially be “in charge of Brit’s personal decisions … in her day-to-day,” while Jamie and Bessemer Trust Company will maintain co-conservatorship over the 39-year-old's estate, her finances, and business decisions.

As for Montgomery’s duties as it pertains to the “Break the Ice” musician’s well-being, her responsibilities include “powers to limit visitors (so long as she isn't restricted from access to counsel), retain caretakers and security guards for Britney, prosecute civil harassment restraining orders that may arise and the power to communicate with medical personnel with respect to any treatment for Britney.”

The outlet also notes Britney’s team made the following filing, underlined in bold in the docs: “Petitioner expressly reserves the right to petition for termination of this conservatorship under Probate Code section 1861. Nothing in the within petition shall be deemed to constitute a waiver of that right.”
