Trippie Redd recently found out that the child he welcomed with a former girlfriend last year wasn't his after all.
The Ohio native broke the news during a recent conversation he had with DDG. In a vlog DDG posted on Tuesday, April 2, the YouTuber-turned-rapper tried to talk about their fatherhood journey especially after he just welcomed his first child with actress and singer Halle Bailey. That's when Trippie Redd revealed he got a paternity test done, which proved he wasn't the father of the newborn boy.
“Bruh, I got a DNA test. I don’t even got a kid," Trippie told DDG.
“I swear, bro," Trippie continued. "I thought I did, and then I told the world that. Like, ahead of time, I never got no DNA test. And I ended up getting a DNA test and it wasn’t my kid.”
Last November, Trippie Redd announced the birth of his son Michael and simultaneously released a project inspired by the child called Saint Michael. In a video he posted to his Instagram Story, he confirmed he was the father of the child and claimed he canceled his "Take Me Away Tour" to be with his family. After the child was born, Trippie Redd took his mother's advice and got two DNA tests done.
“I feel like all the things I was going through during that time was, like, really f**king with me,” he told DDG. “That’s why I couldn’t go on tour, or like, couldn’t do shows and s**t. I couldn’t really get in my s**t, and feel good and s**t. It was a lot of s**t going on. Just a lot of confusion. I mean, it’s life. A lot of s**t just happens. Maybe it happened for a reason.”
Fortunately, Trippie Redd was good enough to hit the studio with MGK. The duo recently dropped their joint album genre : sadboy last month. The 10-track album is a genre-bending project that fuses rap and rock together, which is something both artists have been doing for the majority of their careers.
