Rap Rising: Lil Durk Drops New Album ‘Deep Thoughts’ With Future & More

Lil Durk takes fans on a journey through his mental state on his brand-new album.

On Friday, March 28, the Chicago rapper dropped his new LP Deep Thoughts from behind bars. The album comes with 17 tracks including lead singles "Turn Up A Notch," "Opportunist," "Late Checkout" featuring Hunxho and "Can't Hide It" featuring Jhené Aiko. It also contains new collaborations with Lil Baby ("1000 Times") and Future ("They Want Yo Be You"). Deep Thoughts allows Lil Durk to be more vulnerable and open than ever before. He shows remorse for his past mistakes on songs like "Wonderin' Again" and reflects on his loses on "Deep Depression."

"I WASN’T GON PUT THIS OUT BUT THEN I REMEMBERED THE STREETS NEED THIS," Durk wrote in an Instagram post. "NOT BEING OUTSIDE WITH Y’ALL WHEN I DROP IS HARD, BUT I KNOW I WILL FEEL Y’ALL LOVE AND ENERGY THROUGH THESE WALLS. THANK Y’ALL FOR ROCKING WITH ME THROUGH EVERYTHING. I TELL THESE STORIES SO OUR VOICE IS NEVER LOST. I’M COMING HOME SOON STRONGER THAN EVER. INSHALLAH, THE VOICE. LOVE, DURK."

Lil Durk has been promoting his new album from behind bars while he awaits his upcoming trial. He was arrested last October after he was indicted for his alleged involvement in a murder-for-hire plot against rapper Quando Rondo. Prosecutors allege Durk ordered a team of men to follow Rondo and kill him in Los Angeles in 2022. The men opened fire at the Georgia artist but fatally struck his cousin Lul Pab instead. Durk was originally set to face trial in January but his date got pushed back to October.
