Kendrick Lamar's comedy movie has reportedly been pushed back to 2026.
According to a report Variety published on Monday, March 31, Paramount Pictures decided to reschedule the release of the Compton rapper's film for next year. The untitled movie Lamar developed alongside "South Park" creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker was set to debut on July 4. Instead of going up against anticipated blockbusters like Jurassic World 4 and James Gunn's Superman, the film will now debut in March 2026. Details about the film's title and cast are still under wraps, but the synopsis follows a Black man during his internship as a slave re-enactor at a history museum.
The film reportedly began filming last year. Lamar will produce the film alongside his pgLang business partner Dave Free. The studio didn't give a reason for the change, but the new date will allow the Grammy award-winning rapper to focus on his upcoming "Grand National Tour" with SZA and Mustard. Kendrick Lamar's stadium tour is set to begin in Minneapolis on April 19. It will travel to 18 other major cities around the U.S. and Canada until it concludes in Washington, D.C. on June 18. Mustard recently announced he will hit the road with K.Dot and SZA to perform during the tour.
"I’m joining Kendrick Lamar and SZA on the Grand National Tour," he wrote. "Had to look out for my fans."
Look out for Kendrick Lamar's upcoming film arriving on March 20, 2026.
