Marlins Take Series From Rays

The Miami Marlins (18-27) defeated the Tampa Bay Rays (21-25) 5-1 on Sunday afternoon in Miami to win the three-game interleague series between in-state rivals.

The Rays got their only offense in the third inning when Yandy Diaz reached on a fielder's choice error that allowed Taylor Walls to score. The Marlins got a three-run homer from Otto Lopez in the third and a two-run homer from Liam Hicks in the sixth to make it 5-1.

Shane Baz (3-3, 5.33) took the loss, allowing all five earned runs on nine hits in his sixxings of work while striking out two and walking three.

The Rays return home for a three-team homestand which begins against the Astros on Monday. First pitch between the Rays and Astros is scheduled for 7:05 PM Monday night - pregame coverage begins with Ronnie Lane hosting the Inside Pitch at 6:00 PM on 95.3 WDAE & AM 620.
