The species was 1st discovered in Florida in 2011. They can be devastating to local agriculture and natural areas as they cause extensive damage to tropical and subtropical environments. So far it has costed $10.8 million.
Each snail can live up to 9 years and grow to be eight inches in length-- about the size of an adult hand. They also reproduce quickly-- making about 1,200 eggs in a year. Plus they're tough to get rid of because they don't have any natural predators.
