Suspect Charged In Death Of Cuban Reggaeton Star El Taiger

Hialeah, FL - A Hialeah man has been charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting of Cuban reggaeton star El Taiger.

Authorities say the suspect, identified as 49-year-old Damian Valdez-Galloso, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade on Wednesday, following his arrest in New York City last week.

Valdez-Galloso was initially detained on an out-of-state extradition warrant.

Miami-Dade Police report Valdez-Galloso faces additional charges of second-degree murder with a weapon, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

El Taiger, whose real name was Jose Manuel Carbajal Zaldivar, was found unresponsive with a gunshot wound inside an SUV near Northwest 9th Avenue and 17th Street in Miami on October 3rd.

He was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition but died due to his injuries a week later on October 10th.

He was 37-years-old.

According to police, the singer allegedly visited Valdez-Galloso’s home on the morning of the shooting.

Police allege that Valdez-Galloso opened the door and shot El Taiger in the head, before reportedly dragging the singer’s body to the SUV, placing him inside, cleaning the scene, changing clothes, and leaving in the victim’s vehicle.

Authorities confirmed no other suspects are currently lmk being sought in connection with the case.

Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the October 3rd shooting.
