President Trump is about to spend the sixth weekend of his second term at Mar-a-Lago.
Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw had said that the president planned to spend more time in town than in DC and while that's not exactly the case...
"It was a pretty obvious sign of what's happening...do you wanna be in Washington D.C. walking through the snow or do you wanna be in South Florida where you can go out and play golf? That's not a hard choice."
With these frequent visits comes high costs for those who keep Trump safe while he's in Palm Beach. Bradshaw says his agency works closely with the Secret Service.
"The vast majority of the security is us, that's why it costs us $240,000 a day when he's here. I've got a lot of resources tied up over there."
But the sheriff isn't concerned about getting reimbursed by the federal government.
"I'm not worried about that. We'll get it back."
He says the only question is about the money spent to keep Trump safe BEFORE he was inaugurated for a second time.
"We're in the process of how to get the money for the time prior to January 20th. January 20th going forward, when they pass the spending bill there'll be money in there to pay us back. It just takes a long time. That's why when I went to the County Commission to get some contingency money, it's because it takes about eleven months to get it back and my budget won't support that."
Meanwhile, Sheriff Ric Bradshaw tells me that security has been beefed up at Trump International Golf Club after the attempted assassination last September.
"The level of security has been ramped up to as high as it can go. We're confident that we have the golf course properly secured now. We don't expect any problems there. And for sure, we've got Mar-a-Lago locked down as anybody can do without a doubt so we're pretty satisfied with what's going on when he's here."
Air Force One is expected to land at PBIA around 7 p.m. tonight.
