Miami, FL - The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office has launched a new non-emergency phone line aimed at enhancing community service and reducing strain on emergency dispatch.
The dedicated number, 305-743-7433, is now active and intended for situations that do not require an immediate emergency response.
These include issues like loud noise complaints, minor vehicle accidents, and general law enforcement questions.
The Sheriff’s Office announced the update Monday as part of an initiative to increase efficiency and improve public access to the right resources.
Officials say the new line will help ensure that 911 remains reserved for critical emergencies involving threats to life, safety, or health.
By diverting non-urgent calls, the department hopes to reduce response delays and streamline operations for both law enforcement and residents.
“This new number allows us to respond more appropriately to the needs of the community while reserving emergency resources for those who truly need them,” a department spokesperson said in a press release.
Residents are encouraged to save the number and use it for everyday concerns that require law enforcement attention but are not life-threatening.
The Sheriff’s Office emphasized that 911 should still be used exclusively for emergencies.
The rollout of the hotline reflects broader efforts to modernize public safety communication and improve how citizens interact with local authorities.
By providing an accessible alternative for non-emergency calls, officials hope to increase responsiveness and maintain strong lines of communication with the community.
